Positive progress for our Creative Corners project!

As of December 2020, the National Register of Historic Places nomination for the Hertel Pharmacy / Schweitzer Pharmacy building is on its way to D.C. and the National Park Service! We’re hopeful that 2021 will bring with it more good news for our project. For instance, listing on the National Register will help provide tax incentives for future renovations at the site. If you’re interested, the full nomination can be viewed here, on the right side under Jefferson County.

Recently, crews are working inside and outside! Work in the basement is helping to stabilize the building. Also, the exterior along 26th Street is getting a minor facelift with repair and replacement of siding and a protective coat of paint. Thanks to our Give For Good Louisville 2020 donors for giving us a head start on that work!

We’ve been in discussions with several local organizations about partnerships. Coming up, we hope to provide preservation job skills training on future improvements at the building. Stay tuned!
