Low-Interest Loan Inquiries

This new low-interest loan program is primarily intended to help owners of historic properties with needed repairs. Priority is currently given to home owners with low to moderate income. A geographic preference will be shown for structures located within areas of Louisville-Jefferson County with the highest density of historic structures and a history of underrepresentation, namely Algonquin, Beechmont, Berrytown, California, Chickasaw, Griffytown, James Taylor-Jacob School, Merriwether, Park DuValle, Park Hill, Parkland, Phoenix Hill, Portland, Russell, St. Joseph, Shawnee, Shelby Park, Smoketown, Southside, Taylor Berry, Wilder Park, Wyandotte/Oakdale, etc. However, properties that are not located within those areas may still be eligible for assistance if they are listed in or eligible for listing on the National Register.

The ideal property should be listed on the National Register of Historic Places, or be a “contributing” building within a National Register District. The repairs will need to be appropriate for a historic building (for instance, restoring wood windows, rather than removing them and installing vinyl windows). If you are unsure if your property is listed, we can look this up based on the property address. This is a new program, and we are currently seeking those who may be interested in participating, so please fill in the form below and we will contact you with more details about the application process.  Funds for the revolving fund are limited, but we can also provide guidance on the Kentucky Historic Rehab Tax Credit process, which is separate from the revolving loan program.
